Since I wrote the post about which Pokemon the Senshi would train based on their characteristics before X and Y came out, I decided to rectify that by assigning them each a Gen VI Pokemon! Because the selection is so limited some of them are a stretch but I think most of them fit perfectly!
Usagi Tsukino: Sylveon
Not only is Sylveon pastel pink, has huge blue eyes, and is covered in ribbons (ribbons are featured prominently on Usagi, both in her transformation sequences and artbook pictures) its X Pokedex entry states that “It sends a soothing aura from its ribbonlike feelers to calm fights.” Usagi is often the peacemaker between the various factions of the Sailor Senshi (most prominently between the Inner and Outer Senshi during the S arc and between the Outer Senshi and Sailor Starlights during Sailor Stars)
Ami Mizuno: Quilladin
Although Quilladin is a Grass type (instead of an Ice/Water type), it’s characteristics still remind me a lot of Ami. Its Pokedex entries say that “It relies on its sturdy shell to deflect predators’ attacks” and that “They are very kind and won’t start fights.” Ami’s strategies are usually defense-oriented and she’s a very kindhearted girl.
Rei Hino: Delphox
First of all, Delphox is a Fire/Psychic type; Rei is the Soldier of Flames and has powerful psychic abilities. Physically, Delphox looks like its wearing hakama, which is standard miko fare. Finally, its X Pokedex entry states that “It gazes into the flame at the tip of its branch to achieve a focused state, which allows it to see into the future.” Rei often meditates before a fire in a secluded room at her shrine in order to hone her sixth sense and get answers for any questions she may have.
Makoto Kino: Pangoro
According to its X Pokedex entry, “Although it possesses a violent temperament, it won’t put up with bullying.” Although Mako isn’t exactly “violent,” she looks big and imposing but doesn’t tolerate bullying in any shape or form, often standing up for her friends or those who are weaker than her.
Minako Aino: Furfrou
I can definitely picture Minako as a pampered Furfrou, constantly getting new hairstyles and staying glamorous. :3
Not a whole lot of significance behind this one; Bunnelby is an adorable little rabbit and “Chibiusa” translates to “small bunny.” :P
Setsuna Meioh: Xerneas
I don’t know why, but I just associate Setsuna with this Pokemon! Also, Xerneas is immortal and it’s implied that Setsuna is the same, being the guardian of time and all.
Haruka Tenoh: Aegislash
I chose Aegislash because, obviously, it’s a sword and Haruka is heavily associated with her Talisman, the Space Sword. But, according to its Dex entry, “Apparently, it can detect the innate qualities of leadership. According to legend, whoever it recognizes is destined to become king.” In both the anime and manga, Haruka acknowledges the traits in Usagi that will help her become the great Neo-Queen Serenity. She then pledges her loyalty to her.
Michiru Kaioh: Aurorus
I chose Aurorus just because I think it’s the most beautiful and elegant Pokemon in X/Y and that it just suits Michiru perfectly!
Hotaru Tomoe: Espurr
I just think Hotaru and Espurr fit perfectly! Not only is Espurr cute but also somewhat creepy, its Dex entry states that “It has enough psychic energy to blast everything within 300 feet of itself, but it has no control over its power.” Before she became Sailor Saturn Hotaru had absolutely no control over her own powers, which made her an outcast.
