“Oh, yeah, baby, I will find the Messiah, just you wait!”
Late one afternoon, Haruka spoke in whispered tones to The Mission. She was being extra careful, as technically Michiru was supposed to be involved with The Mission as well- but Haruka wanted some alone time. Was that too much to ask?
“Mmm hmm, yeah… and we’ll save the world from being plunged into silence, FUCK YEAH, you know that’s how I do…”
“Haruka?”
Haruka’s blood turned to ice in her veins. With agonizing slowness, she spun around to come face to face with an extremely irate Michiru.
“Haruka… are you talking to who I think you’re talking to?”
“N-no! Michiru, this is just, uh… a telemarketer! Yeah! No, sir, I’m very happy with my long-distance service provider, but thank you!” Haruka slammed down the receiver so hard it nearly cracked.
“Don’t play games with me!” Michiru nearly screamed, her face reddening. “I know what this is about! You were talking to The Mission, without me!”
“No, no! I was just… Alright, fine. You caught me. That was The Mission. But Michiru, it’s not like we’re sneaking around behind your back or anything! The Mission loves you! I love you!”
“But The Mission isn’t in love with me. It’s in love with you.” Saying these words, Michiru collapsed onto the couch, emotionally drained. These feelings had been festering inside of her ever since Haruka was 30 minutes late to her concert after seeing The Mission. And now her worst fears had been confirmed: Haruka and The Mission were more devoted to each other than they were to her.
“Michiru, no! You, me, and The Mission! That’s where it’s at! We all need to work together to prevent the apocalypse from happening! And we weren’t even talking about that before. We were talking about, uh, planning your birthday party! Shoot, I guess the cat’s out of the bag now, haha.” Haruka nervously laughed, hoping this would cover everything up.
“My birthday,” began Michiru calmly, “Was two months ago. And you were late to dinner because you were out with The Mission!“
“Oh, well… Surprise?” Haruka trailed off lamely. She knew she had lost this battle.
And thusly, Haruka was banished to the couch that night.
