In her first incarnation (in the S season and Infinity arc), Sailor Saturn is an interesting character. In both the anime and manga, it’s repeatedly implied, then stated by Saturn herself, that Sailor Saturn and Hotaru are separate entities, unlike the rest of the soldiers who are the same people with the same personalities. After Hotaru awakens again, they seem to merge (especially in the manga) to become the same person.
In all my years of being a Sailor Moon fan, I’ve come to find that most people don’t know about anything other than the English dub.
It’s sad. We’re one of the lucky fandoms that has more than just a dubbed series, and no one cares! Everyone wants the dub to come back, but there are so many other great forms of Sailor Moon that no one seems to care about. I guess this all kinda stemmed from me wanting to do a Sera Myu cosplay, but I feel like hardly anyone would “get it.” (I know people who have cosplayed Myu and PGSM, and they were told they were “inaccurate.” LOL) This isn’t a dub hate rant, and no hate to anyone that prefers it.
Before you go crusading for the dub to come back, maybe you should watch the subbed version, PGSM, Sera Myu and read the manga. It’s probably my biggest pet peeve about this fandom.

I really respect people’s childhood nostalgia, and I understand WHY they want it to come back, but I just think it’s a bad idea. The dub dumbed down the series and I feel like it did a poor job representing the series as a whole (the Haruka/Michiru cousin fiasco, turning male characters female, using that godawful slang, making the characters say things that are EXTREMELY out of character, etc) I just feel like it could be SO MUCH BETTER, and people are so hung up on their nostalgia they can’t acknowledge that the dub has faults and doesn’t do a very good job at, well, DUBBING.
I don’t think some people realize this
But Mistress 9’s appearance is that of Hotaru’s when she’ll get older. M9’s presence forced the body to rapidly age so it could accommodate her powerful essence. And do you know what this means? Hotaru is going to be one STUNNING woman when she grows up! Just like Chibiusa (not only do we see Black Lady, we see her future form, Princess Lady Serenity)!
