I really love this picture! It’s from a doujinshi called “Princess Quest 5.” Anyway, I’m a sucker for any and all pictures of the Queen as a mother so of course I had to color this!

If you’re familiar with Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Little Mermaid” (which Mermaid Panic is based off of), the Princess was told by the Sea Witch that if she wished to return to her mermaid form (and end the suffering she had thus far endured as a human), she would need to stab the man she had fallen in love with and let his blood drip onto her feet, which would turn her into a mermaid again.
This is Princess Shinju (Princess Pearl) from the novel series “Mermaid Panic,” which Naoko provided the illustrations for. Isn’t she gorgeous?
Shinju’s hair is normally portrayed as pink but I changed it to blonde because I thought it would look nicer with her color scheme.
Manga coloring trade with moonfrisbee! Our theme was (vaguely) the future/Crystal Tokyo. I may have over done it with the lighting effects.
