Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss!

For fun, I looked up the language of flowers (what notions, ideas, feelings, etc. flowers symbolize) and decided to make a list of which flower I believe corresponds the best to the Senshi! These are all just my own interpretations; anyone else can add on with their own!

Usagi Tsukino: Orange…

There was actually a lot of flowers used in Naokos art books. If you ever happen to look up the flowers - they are usually related to the characters in some way. When I was working on one of my interpretations of sailor moon, I did the same thing. I often feature flowers in my drawings and research the meaning behind them.. in this drawing..

I believe the yellow flowers are in relation to Usagi’s birthday. After I finished it I looked back at some of Naoko’s works and saw that she used the same ones in her drawings as well.

Naoko actually puts a lot of thought into the flowers she uses in her images. (The red/yellow ones are really prominent in her works.) I believe they were named after sailor moon too.

First of all, gorgeous fanart! :D

Secondly, yes, those are Happy Valley Sailor Moon flowers!

There’s also the Sailor Moon Sunflower

The CM-1975 Slc. Gemstone ‘Sailor Moon’

And the Sailor Moon Carnations

Did you know? (#5)

silvermoon424:

Sailor Moon has had a flower named after her, called the Happy Valley Sailor Moon. It is a hybrid flower that was named after Sailor Moon because the scientist Shigeru Makoto Kono thought that the flower’s yellow color matched the color of Usagi’s hair. Images of this orchid appear in on the inside cover of original manga volume 18, as well as on three pages of Artbook V. In the notes of Artbook V, Naoko Takeuchi wrote, “The day the final Sailor Moon anime was released, I received this flower from Tomari-sama, the Toei director of animation, and I was so happy that I tried putting them on the cover as well.”

Happy Valley Sailor Moon is a breed of orchid called a Cymbidium (‘Cym’ for short). The breed was registered on October 9, 1997. Happy Valley Sailor Moon orchids are not cultivated every year, and are only grown in a certain part of Japan.
