Trivia

  • This was the last episode in the original anime series.
  • A white dress was painted on Usagi’s nude body in the Korean dub.
  • The angelic figure that Usagi saw at the start of the episode resembled Sailor Cosmos from the manga.
  • Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion were respectively last seen in episodes 166 and 172.
  • Although it was broken by Galaxia in episode 199, the Eternal Moon Article was restored here. At one point in the finale, the brooch looked like a golden version of the Crisis Moon Compact.
  • Usagi’s monologue at the end was reminiscent of her voiceover at the beginning of the first episode.
  • A stripe was missing from Sailor Uranus’ collar as she congratulated Usagi.
  • In the teaser before the opening credits, Sailor Galaxia had no shoulder armor.
  • A new ending animation sequence was shown, and “Moonlight Densetsu” was played rather than “Kaze mo Sora mo Kitto…”.
  • After the ending credits, a message was written on a black screen - “Oshimai da yo” (おしまいだよ). This translates to “It’s the end”. Usagi said “oshimai” while Ami, Rei, Makoto and Minako read “da yo” in unison.

This is my absolute favorite episode! <33

Also, I remember seeing a picture of the edited Korean dub a while back and it cracked me up. If Stars had been dubbed they would have painted a freaking bikini on her or something.

Trivia

  • Some fans believe that this movie exists outside of the anime’s main continuity. Sailor Pluto supposedly died in episode 124, and she would not be seen again (by anyone other than Chibiusa) until episode 167. Here, however, Pluto arrived with Sailors Uranus and Neptune. Yet the latter two senshi were shocked to see that Pluto was alive in episode 167, the first episode to air after SuperS ended.
  • Katsumi Tamegai and Yoshihiro Kitano were listed as assistant animation directors.
  • While Sailors Uranus and Neptune performed their talisman attacks in episode 124, they were unnamed. Space Sword Blaster and Submarine Reflection were shown for the first time here. They would be used again in Sailor Stars.
  • Ami’s mother Saeko was briefly featured in the opening credits. In the television series, Saeko was only mentioned.
  • This was one of two instances where Super Sailor Moon executed Moon Tiara Action in the SuperS era. The second and last was in episode 163 (aired in February of 1996).
  • Super Double Moon defeated Queen Badiane with a unique rendition of Moon Gorgeous Meditation. Super Sailor Chibimoon mysteriously acquired her own Kaleido Moon Scope. While this never occurred in the television series, Chibimoon possessed the Chibimoon Kaleido Scope in the manga.
  • Although Kunihiko Ikuhara left the anime once SuperS concluded, he had developed several ideas for the SuperS Movie. This included a story centered around Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. When Neptune was trapped at the End of the World, Uranus was forced to steal the talismans from Sailor Moon. Moon would then follow Uranus to the End of the World. This chase involved Pegasus as well as a black Pegasus. Ikuhara later incorporated some of these elements into his other project - Shoujo Kakumei Utena. More details can be found in this interview.
  • In the English version (“Black Dream Hole”), most of the soundtrack and scoring used for the R Movie and S Movie dub was reused here. “Morning Moon de Aimashou” was replaced with the English song “Nothing at All”. For the television airing, the transformation sequences were censored, and the scenes where the Sailor Senshi/Sailor Scouts were nude and depowered were cut altogether. The part where Tuxedo Mask was hit by the Bonbon Babies was partially edited. Usagi/Serena spanking Chibiusa/Rini to awaken her from the enemy’s spell was removed as well.

Trivia

  • The monster-of-the-day was droid Avogadora. Her name is inspired by the avocado.
  • This was Kenji Tsukino’s final appearance in the anime.
  • Usagi previously made curry in episode 45.
  • The kitchen scene at Ami’s apartment was removed from the English version (“A Curried Favor”). However, it could be seen in the Sailor Says segment. Additionally, Raye said that she could cook “all kinds of exotic food” when Rini asked about chicken curry. Curry is considered to be one of the most popular dishes in Japan, and it was introduced by the British during the Meiji period.
  • The Crystal Point was the Juuban Supermarket.
