I can’t get over how in-character everyone is in this scene. I love it to BITS

1. Mars is wary (and when she’s sweat-dropping over a monster you KNOW you in troubs)
2. Sailor Moon is freaking out
3. Jupiter is like LETS DO THIS IT’S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I’VE KICKED SOME ASS I’M GETTING RUSTY
4. Mercury is having an inappropriately-timed techno-geekgasm over the giant-screen crystal-based security system “freaking sweet set-up you got here, King” (I really wanted him to be like, “well, you designed it” [IN MY HEAD THIS HAPPENED])

All we need is Venus messing up a proverb or talking about how hot she is and then we’ve got ourselves a perfect set!

So then Tuxedo Kamen and King Endymion share Meaningful Glares. 

And I can’t.  Like.  the I Created a Fandom World In My Head side of me is still harping on the idea that these men do not like each other (apparently I like giving Mamoru issues galore).  Because this isn’t about him, it’s about her and holy shit the intensity and I’m not even making this up they animated that RIGHT INTO THE SHOW.  Mamoru’s face changes visibly from when he’s watching Sailor Moon reunite with the girls to when he looks up and meets Endymion’s gaze. I only know this because I was screencapping at the time and trying to catch the ‘pause’ button at the right time, but I was like DAMN. 

I don’t care what anyone says, this is good TV.

Okay, disliking your future self is ONLY SOMETHING MAMORU CAN DO.

I think he’s just pissed that the King’s been cockblocking him.

So, to recap, Last Time On A Very Special Episode of Sailor Moon, Usagi was kidnapped by Demando and Mamoru went to rescue her via hang-glider. This happened. In canon.

Anyway, I just mostly capped this because fuck, I love Rei you guys.  Just. This is just Sailor Mars all over. “well let’s go rescue my princess for fucks sake. And Mamoru, I guess, if we have time.”

If they need to drop extra weight to hasten their getaway Mamoru will be the first to go.

I need to talk about the above scene with screaming fangirl Sailor Pluto feels because this woman loves Sailor Moon/Usagi/Serenity SO MUCH OKAY. JUST. SO FUCKING MUCH I CAN’T EVEN AND YOU WILL NEVER CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE.

She looks up from hugging Small Lady to apologize for doing her job and protecting the Time Gate and then she looks at Sailor Moon - RIGHT AT SAILOR MOON and ONLY at Sailor Moon- at her eyes visibly soften, the tone of her voice changes, and she says, “but you certainly are always a source of trouble for me” in this faraway, fond way and she uses “anata” for “you” which is a pretty familiar, affectionate way to address someone. 

That isn’t what you would use for some formal personage whom you barley know but you would for a little silver-haired princess you watched grow up and a schoolgirl you followed through Tokyo with your eyes and a the daughter of a queen you served loyally and the mother of the little girl you LOVE. 

OH and when she says that about “causing trouble” my heart BURSTS with FEELS because I interrupt it like: this little princess broke your heart when she died in the Silver Millennium and brought the kingdom crumbling around her, and then you watched her die again defeating Beryl, and for Pluto time isn’t linear at this point so maybe she sees her life as Setsuna Meioh and living and dying and her little outers family, and Chibi-Usa and her just growing closer and then maybe apart again as she grows up, and Mistress 9 and even the possibility of Galaxia and Sailor Moon attracting and defending evil again and again and again.  The brightest star the defense and draw for all darkness in the galaxy and she can only look at her with the tenderest eyes - her princess, her queen, her Serenity, and say, “you sure are troublesome for me.” My job used to be easier before you and your family came along.

And this is the first time Sailor Moon has ever seen Pluto so she’s just like “huh with the what now?”

BUT UGH.

You know, I think Pluto is actually my favorite character of all.
