The Gate (directed by Matt Westrup)
A new virulent strain of rabies is thought to be responsible for a number of horrible deaths in the city of London. It soon becomes clear that the cause of the condition has a much more sinister origin.
“The Gate” is a very effective little movie that both terrifies and invokes curiosity. It’s one of my favorite short films! What’s more is that it’s being turned into a full-length feature film and Westrupt will be returning as the director. I’m really excited to see it!
For any Edgar Allan Poe fans out there, this is an awesome short film I just saw. It’s a modern retelling of The Telltale Heart, called Tell and directed by Ryan Connolly. It’s extremely well-made and suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last moment. Highly recommended for any EAP fan or just fans of horror in general!
Great short horror films
As many of my followers know, I am obsessed with all things horror. In particular, I’m passionate about short horror films. Getting a good story and some scares packed into just a few minutes is difficult but often rewarding. I’ve spent years combing through the internet trying to find the best films. So I decided to post my own personal list of films I’ve loved so others could enjoy them, too!
This list is constantly growing so I’ll be updating every now and then. These are all very professional and, if not super scary, are very entertaining. Of course, your mileage may vary. They’re all in chronological order, by the dates I discovered them. Enjoy!
Even if you aren’t a fan of the horror genre, this short MUST be checked out! It’s only a minute long! In that minute, an enormous amount of tension is built and the twist at the end is genuinely frightening. It’s a must see!!
Protip: Once you’re finished watching, look at the title again. :)
Mockingbird, directed by Daywalt Horror.
